Justin Bieber Rocks Mature Sound on ‘Boyfriend’
Justin Bieber's album My World 2.0? Well get ready for the second version of Justin Bieber.
This new, more mature Biebs - hello, he turned 18 on March 1! - has a
slower musical style, even when he raps, based on the new single
"Boyfriend," which was released Monday. While it's been out for less
than a day, the song is already the top download at the iTunes store.
The track is the first single from Justin's upcoming album, Believe, which is expected in June. As he said on Ryan Seacrest's morning radio show
Monday, choosing "Boyfriend" as the lead off song for the project was
"a really hard choice." "We had so many songs and so many uptempos that
we could've released. I thought we should slow it down a little," he
said. "It's just something a little bit more mature, but it's also
something that I think I'm ready for." The teen dream explained to
Seacrest that the lyrics, which were co-written by Bieber himself,
singer Mike Posner ("Cooler Than Me"), Matthew Levy, and Mitchell Musto,
describe the kind of significant other he thinks every guy should be -
and perhaps the kind of guy he is to 19-year-old lady love Selena Gomez?
